Carnival time is upon us so how about making some costume decorations yourself? :) I want to show you how you can easily make carnival hand fan with alcohol inks and yupo paper.

Materials needed:

  • alcohol inks

  • yupo paper

  • porporina or metallic dry pigment

  • blender for mixing inks

  • scissors

  • latex gloves (gotta protect your hands :))

  • piece of a cardboard

  • a pair of chopsticks

  • red bow

  • two sided tape

  • red feathers

Step 1: Cut out 2 circles from yupo paper, one slightly smaller

Step 2. Dye smaller circle with alcohol inks and metallic pigment until you're happy with result. This circle will be the front one.

Step 3: Dye the big circle but only on the sides, middle wont be visible

Step 4: Wrap chopsticks with a bow

Step 5: Attach chopsticks and red feathers to the big circle with a two sided tape

Step 6: Attach the smaller circle on top adding small pieces of carboad on sides for stability and 3D effect

And you're done! Your fan is ready :)
